According to Dr Ruhi Satija, consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist, for mental wellbeing, spending time alone is very important and being around other’s comes with reward, but it also creates stress since your worried what people think of you, to avoid rejection and to fit in with the rest of the group, you tend to change your behavior.

Dr. Ruhi states that there is a difference between loneliness and being alone. Loneliness is associated with negativity and a sense of exclusion. Whereas being alone helps you to become more comfortable because you can make your own choices without outside influences. And this will help you to develop more understanding into who you are as a person.

There are many benefits of alone time, such as spending time with yourself and feeling comfortable allows you to realize your choices, preferences and dislikes. This will help you to have a better understanding of your behaviors.

Creativity is an excellent thing for mental health. Time spent on something which you like and allowing your mind to create something is a delightful way for happiness.

There are times when you don’t want to live with someone else. However, if you live alone, you can spend time and dine alone, as well as you have a complete control over your actions. There will be no one to tell you what to do and judge you. This will refresh your mood and attitude.

Your productivity will improve exponentially, since you’re not concerned with what others are doing or how they see you.

Allow your independence to strengthen you. Learn how to be safe, when you are alone it helps to assist you in relaxing and enjoying your individuality.

When you are alone there are certain things which you can attend to, like during your spare time do something which you are passionate about.

Have great relationships with individuals who care for your progress and enrich your life. Have a furry small pet animal, which will significantly boost your happiness and energy levels as well as it will ease stress.
