Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (CWBN)_ A French guardsman posted at the French Consulate in Jeddah was stabbed by a Saudi national using a “sharp tool” just hours after the incident in Nice.

The injured guardsman has been hospitalised. However, his injuries are reportedly non-life threatening.

The 40 year old assailant has been arrested by the Saudi authorities. French authorities have requested the Saudi government to “shed light on this attack” as details regarding the stabbing remain unclear at this time.

Meanwhile, a man wielding a knife had reportedly attacked a group of French police officers today at 11:15am local time, in Avignon, France.

The police had initially used non-lethal munitions against the suspect but were later forced to use lethal force when he had charged at the police and had reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar”.

One officer has been reported to have been injured.
