According to the latest readings, the air quality of many Indian states has gone to worse recently. The poor air quality leads to many diseases and harms the lungs. The lungs are a very important part of the body. Along with breathing, it is the job of the lungs to expel polluted and harmful smoke from the body. Healthy lungs can help protect us from many types of diseases, like pneumonia and asthma. Due to increasing pollution and Corona epidemic our lungs have become weak. To keep the lungs healthy, a healthy diet is essential. There are some foods which help to protect your lungs from getting damaged and help to keep them healthy.

Walnut- In walnuts you can find plenty of phytoestrogens and Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids helps to protect your heart, lungs and blood vessels.

Ginger- A component called gingerol is found in ginger, which is helpful in reducing cough. The nutrients found in ginger can help to eliminate inflammation and infection from the lungs.

Spinach- Lutein, zeaxanthin, chlorophyll and beta carotene is found in spinach. This has been proved that it helps to increase our immunity. Chlorophyll, which gives the colour green to spinach leaves, is a very strong antioxidant, which helps to keep the lungs healthy.

Foods containing Vitamin C- Vitamin C is considered as a very beneficial vitamin for our body. Immunity can be supported by the consumption of Vitamin C. Lungs can be kept healthy by consuming foods rich in Vitamin C like orange, lemon, Amla etc.

Turmeric- The curcumin component which is found in turmeric is considered to be very helpful to fight against cancer. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to prevent any swelling and inflammation, which was caused by pollution in the lungs.

Fenugreek- Fenugreek lessens the risk of lung issues and infections. If you have trouble in breathing, then you can consume fenugreek. You can also use fenugreek in the form of tea or fenugreek water.

Apple- There are many health benefits by consuming apples daily. Many nutrients are found in apples including potassium, fiber and vitamin C, which can help to keep the lungs and the entire body healthy.         

By including more of these foods into your diet, you can help to protect your lung health and reduce the risk of respiratory disease.
