Mumbai, India (CU)_ While speaking to Twinkle Khanna during Tweak India’s The Icons, Sushmita Sen was at her most frank. The former Miss Universe also discussed her decision not to marry and the circumstances around it. The actress said, “Luckily I met some very interesting men in my life, the only reason I never got married is because they were a let down. It had nothing to do with my kids. My kids were never in the equation. If at all, they have been very gracious. Both my kids have accepted people in my life with open arms, never made a face. They have given everybody equal measure of love and respect. It’s the most beautiful thing to watch”.
The former Miss Universe added, “I came close to getting married thrice, all three times God saved me. I can’t tell you what disasters followed with their respective lives. God protected me, also because God is protecting these two kids, he can’t let me get into a messy affair.”
Sushmita Sen broke up with her model boyfriend, Rohman, last year. She announced the breakup news via an Instagram post. She added the hashtag #nomorespeculations to her post. She wrote, “We began as friends, we remain friends! The relationship was long over… The love remains”.
Sushmita Sen is a single mother to two adopted daughters, Alisah and Renee. Renee was adopted in 2000, and Alisah entered the family in 2010. Renee debuted as an actress in a short film.
Sushmita won the Miss Universe title in 1994. She battled against competitors from 77 nations. Her Bollywood debut movie was the 1996 film Dastak. Her filmography includes popular films such as Biwi No. 1, Do Knot Disturb, Main Hoon Na, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Tumko Na Bhool Paaadnege, and No Problem. Sushmita was most recently featured in the OTT series Aarya 2. She also bagged the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress Female for the first season of Aarya.
