MALE, Maldives (CU)_ According to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Maldives must continue with its great hospitality services to retain its position as the top tourist destination in the world. The statement was delivered by the President during the Tourism Appreciation Reception hosted at Crossroads Maldives to commemorate the island nation’s Golden Jubilee of tourism.
The President noted that Maldivians have always been an example of hospitality toward tourists. He added that special attention is needed to retain the quality of service and to protect the natural beauty of the Maldives’ scattered islands in order to maintain the nation’s status in the competitive global tourism markets. While addressing the ceremony, President Solih elaborated on the success of the tourist sector in the island country and thanked the industry’s pioneers for their hard work and commitment.
In addition, he commended everyone working in the tourism business of the island country and thanked them for their great efforts. Vice President Faisal Naseem, cabinet members, tourism sector experts, and other state authorities were all present at the reception. President Solih also presented Appreciation Awards to those who have made substantial contributions to the tourist sector over the previous fifty years.
