India (Commonwealth Union)_ On the eve of the 77th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu delivered a special address to the nation, highlighting pertinent global economic matters. She emphasized the persisting concern over global inflation and India’s commendable efforts to tame it through the coordinated actions of the Government and the Reserve Bank. Notably, she underscored the nation’s distinctive position as a beacon of hope for global economic growth, with its unique two-fold strategy driving ongoing economic progress. She added, “The world looks up to India for global economic growth. The continued economic progress is driven by a two-pronged strategy”.

The President emphasized the spirited engagement of all citizens with events related to the G-20, attributing this enthusiasm to the nation’s multifaceted advancements. India’s economic resilience amidst turbulent times and its role as an emblem of optimism were celebrated, even amidst the uncertainties catalyzed by the pandemic and international events. Murmu applauded the Government’s brilliant navigation of these challenges, manifesting in robust GDP growth and transformative opportunities, particularly crediting the vital contributions of the nation’s farmers to this trajectory.

The president added that amidst these dynamics, the administration’s approach harmonizes two central goals: the facilitation of entrepreneurship and job generation, and the implementation of expansive welfare initiatives for marginalized segments. This multifaceted approach pivots around a steadfast commitment to uplift the disadvantaged, leading to significant poverty reduction over the past decade. Detailing targeted efforts for tribal welfare, Murmu underscored the intention to bolster the conditions of indigenous communities and encourage their alignment with the broader journey of progress. She urged tribal individuals to preserve their traditions while embracing modernity as they traverse this path.

She added, “I am happy to note that the economic empowerment of women is being given special focus in our country. Economic empowerment strengthens the position of women in the family and society”. According to the president, of particular significance was India’s G-20 presidency, distinguished by a ground-up approach to diplomatic engagement. An unprecedented campaign promoting people’s involvement was mentioned, fostering widespread enthusiasm for G-20-related events. The President also identified global challenges transcending geographical boundaries, expressing confidence in India’s established leadership to drive effective action among member nations on these fronts.
