Most of these diseases can lead to vision loss or blindness. ARMD is the main cause of blindness and studies show that smokers have up to four times the risk of developing ARMD.

Being overweight may increase your risk of Age- Related Macular Degeneration, glaucoma and cataracts. Unfortunately, by losing weight does not lower your increased risk for cataracts, which makes maintaining a healthy weight important.

It advisable to check your blood pressure every few months, since high blood pressure is known as “the silent Killer” many individuals are not aware that they have high blood pressure until it’s too late and they’ve gone through health issues such as stroke or permanent loss of vision.
