Though the Indian EV industry is still in a developing stage, the Ev consumers now have a variety of options available in both the luxury and mass-market segments. This article outlines the top 5 most affordable electric cars in India that fall under INR 20 lakh with all prices ex-showroom.

Tata Tiago EV

First on the list is the Tata Tiago EV, which is currently the most budget-friendly electric car in India. It offers two battery pack options – a 19.2 kWh unit and a 24 kWh version – with power outputs of 60 bhp and 74 bhp respectively. Depending on the battery pack chosen, it can offer a driving range of 250 to 310 km on a single charge. The price of the car ranges from INR 8.69 lakh to INR 11.99 lakh.

Citroen eC3

The Citroen eC3 is the second on the list, which is priced between INR 11.50 lakh to INR 12.13 lakh. It is an electric car based on the C3 hatchback, featuring a 29.2 kWh LFP battery pack with a claimed range of 320 km per charge. It also has a single front axle-mounted electric motor that generates 56 bhp and 143 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 107 kmph.

Tata Tigor EV

Next up is the Tata Tigor EV, the only electric sedan now available in the market under INR 20 lakh, with a price range of INR 12.49 lakh to INR 13.75 lakh. It has a 26 kWh liquid-cooled IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack paired with an electric motor, generating 74 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. It is certified by ARAI and offers a driving range of 315 km per charge.

Tata Nexon EV

The next is Tata Nexon EV, which is priced between INR 14.49 lakh to INR 18.99 lakh, which emerged as India’s highest-selling electric SUV. The vehicle transformed the EV journey of Tata Motors in India and is available in two versions: the Nexon EV Prime with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, and the Nexon EV Max with a larger 40.5 kWh unit. They offer a driving range of 312 km and 437 km per charge respectively.

Mahindra XUV400

It features a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack for the EL variant, offering a range of 456 km on a single charge. The base-spec EC variants feature a 34.5 kWh battery pack, with a driving range of 375 km per charge.
