Tourism department to establish water sports and theme park in Bangalore

-

India (Commonwealth Union)_ According to authorities from the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), tourists will be able to experience thrilling watersports such as kayaking, sailing, speed boat, and jet skiing in the Kanva backwaters in the next three months. The older tourist spots such as Vidhana Soudha, Lalbagh, and Cubbon Park are no longer the only tourist attractions in Bengaluru, as new tourist attractions are being established across the city to attract more visitors.

The authorities from the Karnataka State Tourist Development Corporation (KSTDC) reported that water sports like kayaking, sailing, speed boat, and jet skiing will be available to tourists in the Kanva backwaters in the near future. As watersports sites, Kanva Reservoir and Manchanabele Dam are being built to meet the demands of the tourists who are seeking adventure. A number of proposals have been submitted in response to a solicitation for the development of sports infrastructure.

According to Ravindra, General Manager at KSTDC, “We are introducing Kanva backwaters as a one day trip destination from Bengaluru. Water sports and hiking (managed by the district administration) will be the major attractions here. Additionally, the tourism department has been allotted five acres of land to provide basic amenities like restrooms, drinking water, changing rooms, and a parking lot. There will be no buildings near the backwaters. We will all comply with the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT)”. According to Tourism department director Ramprasath Manohar, “The tourism department also intends to promote Manchanabele in a similar fashion. We intend to construct a water sports facility and a park there.”

According to Mr. Manohar, “The development of a theme park in Bengaluru is in the works to improve tourism, particularly on weekends. We have not finalized the place, but the pitches are ready. We intend to establish a theme park similar to Disney World in Bangalore or Mysuru. Along with the ropeway near Nandi Hills, these attractions would draw more tourists to the city”. Mr. Manohar added, “The department also intends to undertake more Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives. In May, Delhi will host the Global Tourism Investment Summit. We intend to attract international investors to develop tourism services and infrastructure in Karnataka and Bengaluru”.
