Trump approves emergency declaration for Washington, effective through Jan. 24

US president made a declaration regarding Washington on Monday stating that “Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that an emergency exists in the District of Columbia and ordered Federal assistance to supplement the District’s response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from the 59th Presidential Inauguration from Jan. 11 to Jan. 24, 2021.” This caused concern for the Department of Homeland security to tighten all security measure in case of an attack of violence during Biden’s inauguration ceremony.

Washington D.C Mayor Muriel Bowser wrote a letter to get this response from Trump. The letter stated that “In light of the attack on the Capitol and intelligence suggesting further violence is likely during the Inaugural period, my administration has reevaluated our preparedness posture for the Inauguration, including requesting the extension of D.C. National Guard support through Jan. 24, 2021.”

The mayor goes further to say that in light of the recent events and the massacre of capitol hill they feel that it will not be safe environment for joe Biden to have his inauguration as president of the USA. The letter states that they expect arms extremist to come and make trouble on the day of the inauguration.

It wasn’t only mayor Bowser who was feeling this was. Mayoress Bowser was joined by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is pleading with people to stay away from the inauguration ceremony as they fear that there will be some kind of violent activity from protestors.
