Upcoming gold refinery a game changer for small-scale miners

 Sh100 million, of which Sh50 million will be funded by the federal government of Kenya. The refinery will be set up in a 10-acre land in Lidambidza, Idakho East ward, and a MoU between the country and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining has outlined the benefits that would be generated by the project to the local community, as well as the federal government. According to Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, the aim of this project is to “improve the livelihoods of the community, uplift the regional economy and create direct and indirect jobs for wealth creation”.

He further noted that consultants who are interested in the project have until 8 November to review information regarding the location of minerals, the production potential and the commercial, economic and social viability of the expected refinery, before making their bids.
