(Commonwealth_India) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday spoke with visible pride about how far India has come in the world of technology, especially in financial innovation. Speaking at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025, he said India’s success story is being written under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and that technology has now become part of the country’s DNA.

Goyal vividly illustrated how digital transformation has permeated every aspect of society. “Even the most ordinary person, a street vendor selling tea or snacks, is using UPI today,” he said with a smile. “You can even make donations in temples through QR codes. This is the kind of deep, real change that shows how technology is touching every life in India.”

Innovation and inclusion are driving India’s growth, which he called a matter of great national pride. “Our country’s journey towards becoming a global power is unstoppable because our development is powered by technology and by the dreams of 1.4 billion people,” he said.

Goyal praised Prime Minister Modi for dedicating his life to the nation’s progress. “From transforming Gujarat as Chief Minister to inspiring the entire country as Prime Minister, he has changed the way India sees itself,” he said. “It’s because of his leadership that India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy, and we’re not far from becoming the third.”

He added that what’s truly inspiring is how united people are in their belief in India’s future. “Today, 1.4 billion Indians are moving forward together, with one common dream — to see our country become a developed nation by 2047,” Goyal said. “I pray that his leadership continues for many years so we can take India to even greater heights.”

Reflecting on how India is now perceived globally, Goyal said the world’s confidence in the country has never been higher. “When other nations work with India, they know they’ll get high-quality talent, top-notch skills, reliable products, and services delivered on time,” he said. “India has become a trusted partner, one that the world counts on.”

He spoke with pride about how India’s role in the global technology landscape has evolved. “We’ve gone from being just another participant in global trade to becoming one of the leading architects of the fintech world,” Goyal said. “Our achievements, from digital public infrastructure to our homegrown 4G stack and one of the fastest 5G rollouts anywhere, show that India is no longer following trends. We’re setting them.”

Goyal’s speech carried a strong sense of optimism and national confidence that India’s digital revolution isn’t just transforming how people live and work but also redefining how the world sees the country: as a forward-looking, technology-driven nation ready to lead on the global stage.
