Male, Maldives (CU)_ The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated $300,000 to the Maldives to address climate change initiatives. The Maldives received the funds as part of USAID Maldives’ Climate Adaptation activity. Using a range of techniques, initiatives, and partners, USAID collaborates with the Maldivian people to boost prosperity, promote inclusive economic development, and boost the resilience of the country’s resources to shocks and stresses.

In a major attempt towards climate change, SME Development Finance Corporation and FJS Consulting were given a total of $300,000 in grants to enhance climate resilience initiatives in the Maldives. USAID’s Climate Change Adaptation effort helps strengthen the capacity of the private sector, civil society, and government to address and adapt to climate change in ways that contribute to sustained, inclusive, market-based development.

In addition, they help find and scale up creative solutions to climate-related issues, enhance governance to manage climate-related risks, and increase access to high-quality information for decision-making to minimize climate change vulnerability. According to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), this initiative is one component of the US-Maldives relationship to encourage self-reliance, enhance stability, and promote economic development. Since 2001, USAID’s Maldives initiatives have cost more than $20 million.

This aid also encourages a populace that is healthy, educated, and gainfully employed. USAID took to Twitter to announce the news. It tweeted, “Just awarded! Two grants totaling over $300,000 to @SDFC_mv and FJS Consulting to support climate resilience interventions in #Maldives through @USAIDMaldives Climate Adaptation activity”.
