Victoria says no to ‘CoalKeeper payments’

MELBOURNE (CU)_The federal government of Australia recently revealed plans to introduce a Physical Retailer Reliability Obligation (PRRO), that would ensure there is sufficient energy available in the National Electricity Market (NEM) to fill gaps in situations where solar and wind power is unable to meet demand. According to Canberra, under the initiative, energy retailers would be required to pay for generators to increase their energy capacity to shore up reliability of the electricity grid.
