The patient was a resident of Bengaluru and was initially admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Jayanagar nearly two years ago. She sought medical attention due to severe shortness of breath and was subsequently diagnosed with interstitial lung disease (ILD), a condition characterized by the stiffening of the lungs. Over time, her condition deteriorated, necessitating constant oxygen support at home and severely impacting her ability to independently carry out regular activities.

Notably, as the donor was an in-house patient at Apollo Hospitals, the ischemia time for the donor organs was significantly reduced, and the need for a transport green corridor was eliminated.
