If you’re the type of person who seeks comfort in being totally sucked into a world of murder mystery, of a thriller which has shivers running down your back, with the curiosity to get to the end allowing you to halt your entire life until you finish the book, then this round up of the three best mystery novels of 2022 is for you!

01 The It Girl by Ruth Ware

April Coutts and Hannah Jones formed a quick close-knit bond in Oxford, where they studied together. Their duo soon expanded as Will, Hugh, Ryan and Emily joined their group forming an inseparable bond between the six of them. April was the ultimate “it” girl, with a free-spirited personality and mesmerising looks. However, she was killed by the second term, with former porter of Oxford John Neville being convicted of the murder.

A decade later, when Hannah and Will are expecting their first child, Neville dies in prison and a journalist knocks on Hannah’s door with news which compels her to reopen April’s case, and get to the root of it herself.

The book is the definition of a perfectly articulated murder mystery, with a plot that will make it difficult for you to to put the book down until you have finished it.

02 The Maid: A Novel by Nita Prose

This spin on a usual mystery tale follows the life of Molly Gray, a socially awkward and introverted hotel maid, who often misinterprets the intention of others around her.

Her unique persona and love for cleaning makes her perfect for her job, until one day she walks into the hotel room of wealthy and popular Charles Black, only to find it in a total and complete mess, with /mr. Black dead on the bed.

Molly’s personality makes her the biggest suspect in the case until she decides to take matters into her own hands and search for evidence to prove her innocence. The question is, will she be able to make it before it’s too late?

The entire book will make your head spin until you reach the end. A gripping read which explores the idea of being similar to everyone, yet being totally different and the challenges that come with it.

03 The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

Jess, a journalist, moves to Paris to her brother’s apartment, who isn’t exactly thrilled to take her in but does not refuse. While on her quest to seek a fresh start is Paris, where everything is apparently better, Jess is intrigued by her brother’s very nice apartment and the fact that he has been missing. She digs deeper into the mystery in order to trace his whereabouts, but feels like she is headed nowhere. She initially comes to leave behind her past, but is entangled in the mystery of her brother’s future.

The book is a well planned mystery, with dark turns that will not feed your burning curiosity until the very end. A must-read if you enjoy tracing clues to get to the end goal.
