Who will benefit by Canada’s new PR scheme?

The new one-time visa program in Canada, which opened for applications last week, would primarily benefit Indian students. More than 90,000 foreign students and important temporary staff who are already in Canada will be granted permanent residence under the scheme.

Overall, 40,000 overseas students, 30,000 temporary workers in some important jobs, and 20,000 temporary workers in healthcare will all be granted permanent residency under the program. The international students who have successfully completed a post-secondary degree program in Canada during the last four years will be eligible for this new PR scheme.
