Why do they really want to join the G7?

LONDON (CU)_ The United Kingdom will host the 2021 G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting early next month, where attendees will address issues of global health security, clinical trials, digital health and other developments. The event will be held on 3 and 4 June, at the University of Oxford, an institute which has been at the heart of the global battle against the Coronavirus pandemic, with its leading clinical trials and its collaboration with AstraZeneca on Covid-19 vaccines. 

“Oxford is the birthplace of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine and at the heart of British life sciences,” UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock said. “Oxford is a perfect location to stage pivotal meetings on how the world readies itself to combat future health threats.”

The Summit will bring together the health ministers from the Group of Seven industrialised nations, namely the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy and the European Union, who will agree on life-saving action in crucial areas of global health. However, according to an announcement made by the UK government on Thursday (20 May), these nations will be joined by the G7 Presidency’s guest countries…
