Why is early child education given the wrong treatment?

Early childhood education also known as Pre K, Kindergarten, Nursery and various other names was highly sought after by parents. There used to be a competition amongst parents and waiting lists between schools as to when children could start. Children have already been enrolled so that they have a spot on the waiting list. This of course has taken a turn in the last 5 years as the number of children being enrolled has taken a downward trend as the numbers have dropped by almost 11,000 units of children.

There is a special sector in the government that deals with early child education (ECE). It was said that the government is taking this sector in the wrong direction and this has resulted in the loss of numbers in child enrollment and also a decline in staff for early child care. It could be that all children are not provided with same kind of care or early education. This happens when some teachers and care givers are more qualified or has had more experience in the sector or field.

From a parent’s perspective one can see that a parent would want what’s best for their kids and sometimes a privatized institution would pay their teaching staff and provide better equipment for teaching as well as child care. But from a teachers or caregivers perspective one can see that government employed teachers aren’t as well paid. There have been accounts where teachers have quit as they don’t get paid enough to live and save up for the future.

There are however way to build these numbers up. When it comes to early childhood education there should be guidelines set. Teacher and caregivers should be given equal opportunity to have proper trainings and get paid well for providing this service.
