Bysiewicz further underscored that the largest proportion of immigrants in Connecticut are individuals from India. She proudly remarked that Connecticut is home to a vibrant and thriving Indian community. The Indian population constitutes the largest percentage of immigrants in the state, and it is with immense pride that they have chosen Connecticut as their home. Further, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the United States is scheduled from June 21 to June 24.
While in the US, on June 22, over 7,000 Indian Americans are expected to gather on the South Lawns of the White House, where President Biden and the First Lady will greet and honor the Indian Prime Minister with a 21-gun salute. The registration process for attending the welcome ceremony at the White House will then come to a close. Further, PM Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to address a Joint Meeting of the US Congress for the second time. Indian Americans perceive this invitation as a reminder of the historical significance of the relationship between the United States and India, symbolizing their shared aspirations and commitment to world peace and prosperity, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
