Diaspora ( Commonwealth Union) _ Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, who was recently named Minister of Foreign Affairs, promised to shortly present the nation’s new “Four Ds” foreign policy, which would be focused on development, democracy, demography, and diaspora.

According to him, the new strategy will aim to put the nation back at the top of visionary and international decision-making. Tuggar made the commitment when he was sworn in as the foreign affairs minister alongside 44 other new officials by President Bola Tinubu.

Tuggar, who vowed to serve the nation and Nigerians, pointed out that the Foreign Ministry is at the forefront of promoting Nigeria’s interests and safeguarding nationals overseas. To be asked to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is the ultimate honour.

However, as a historically significant Ministry, Foreign Affairs has always stood for the pinnacle of achievement. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that such requirements are always met.Turbulent times are now. We have a lot of work to do, from the developing political difficulties in the Niger Republic to the regional insecurity and economic insecurity.

We will also be revealing a new framework for Nigeria’s foreign policy, called four D’s diplomacy, in due course.

We  want to discover contemporary solutions to complicated contemporary problems through this theory, which is centred on development, democracy, demography, and diaspora.

The minister would have the backing of the whole staff, according to Amb. Adamu Lamuwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Tuggar began his second term as ambassador to Germany in 2023 after being appointed to the position in 2017. As ambassador, Tuggar sparked the German government’s return of 22 looted relics from the Benin Bronze culture that are worth more than 100 million pounds.
