This innovative technology has been rolled out at Terminal 3 and is part of a broader strategy to enhance passenger convenience, especially for those making domestic and international transfers.
Developed and launched by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), operated by the GMR Group-led consortium, the virtual navigation map uses high-resolution real imagery of the terminal to create a user-friendly and interactive experience. The goal of this digital platform is to provide travelers with a seamless and intuitive way to find their way through one of the nation’s most bustling travel hubs. By enabling step-by-step, image-based directions, the tool significantly reduces the confusion and stress that passengers may face while navigating large airport spaces, particularly during tight transit schedules or in unfamiliar surroundings.
DIAL has introduced this system as part of its commitment to leveraging smart technologies that support a smoother, more accessible journey for every category of traveler. Whether it’s a first-time flyer unfamiliar with airport protocols, an elderly traveler needing to find the shortest and most comfortable route, or families with children trying to move efficiently from one terminal section to another, the virtual navigation map is designed with the diverse needs of the traveling public in mind.
The map can be easily accessed by scanning QR codes strategically placed across Terminal 3. Once a QR code is scanned using any smartphone or mobile device, passengers are directed to a live map of the terminal, complete with photographic references and directional prompts. This allows them to locate and reach important facilities such as boarding gates, baggage claim belts, washrooms, transfer counters, security checkpoints, and more. The use of real images rather than abstract diagrams helps users orient themselves quickly and move confidently through the space, making the experience more intuitive than traditional navigation systems.
