Several large metal balls were found on a beach in northern Queensland. Authorities believe that several large metal balls discovered on a beach in northern Queensland originated from a rocket that re-entered Earth’s atmosphere.

The objects were discovered over the weekend at Forrest Beach, which is located north of Townsville. People were unsure what the heavy spheres were when they first appeared. Some thought they could be parts of a spacecraft or another object that had fallen from space.

On Monday, the Australian Space Agency said it had identified the likely source of the objects. According to the agency, they appear to be pressure vessels from a space launch vehicle. Officials are now working with international partners to confirm exactly which rocket they came from.

The agency said the location where the objects were found and their design match debris from a foreign rocket that recently returned to Earth after orbiting in space.

Authorities have warned people not to go near the metal balls. Queensland Fire Department officials placed a 50-meter safety zone around the area. Anyone who finds a similar object has been asked to move away immediately and contact emergency services instead of touching it.

Some space experts suggested the spheres could be propellant tanks. If that is true, they might still contain small amounts of dangerous chemicals. These materials can be highly flammable or react with other substances. Because of this possible risk, emergency crews wearing protective clothing carefully collected the objects. They reportedly placed them inside special hazardous-material containers while police secured the area.

The unusual discovery attracted plenty of attention from local residents. Lisa Scobie, the owner of Forrest Beach Takeaway, stated that the town typically remains quiet. She added that the unexpected event brought excitement to the community because unusual things rarely happen there.

This incident is not the first time that suspected space debris has washed ashore in Australia. In 2011, researchers also discovered a similar metal sphere in Namibia. hed ashore in Australia. In 2023, Indian officials confirmed that a large metal object found on a beach near Perth came from one of the country’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles.
