Jamaica Tourism Gets Major Boost with Expanded Canada Flights and 400,000 Winter Season Seats

Jamaica’s second-largest source market may be on the verge of further growth. This is with approximately 400,000 seats that may be available from Canada to Jamaica for the 26/27 winter season.

It marks a significant expansion of airlift from the Canadian market. The increase’s driven by expanded services from long-standing airline partners Air Canada & Sunwing. This comes together with new non-stop service from Porter Airlines. It underscores sustained confidence in Jamaica as a leading warm-weather destination for Canadian travelers.

This added capacity comes in the wake of Jamaica sustaining its strong position as Canada’s preferred Caribbean destination. The expansion offers more choice and higher frequency besides enhanced direct routings. These are from key Canadian gateways to the island’s two major airports.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett said that this expanded airlift from Canada is a direct vote of trust & confidence in Jamaica’s tourism product. Furthermore, it boosts the strength of Jamaica’s partnerships with Air Canada, Sunwing, WestJet besides Porter Airlines.

Bartlett further added that Canada remains one of Jamaica’s top-performing source markets. The additional seat capacity is expected to play a critical role in helping Jamaica reach its ambitious ’30 goals under the Tourism 3.0 framework. This includes 600,000 annual visitor arrivals from Canada besides USD 750 million in tourism earnings from the market.

The new addition of Porter Airlines’ service supplements another option for Canadian travelers. They join Air Canada, Flair, Transat, and Caribbean Airlines besides WestJet. The new addition of Porter Airlines’ service may be offering enhanced connectivity between Canada & Jamaica during the upcoming winter.
