PM Modi flags off 8 trains to promote tourism to Statue of Unity

New Delhi, India (CU)_ On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an attempt to boost tourism in the tribal region flagged off eight trains linking various parts of the country to Kevadia in Gujarat. This inauguration also focussed on promoting tourism to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. The inauguration was done through video conferencing. These trains will run from Kevadia to Varanasi, Dadar, Ahmedabad, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Rewa, Chennai and Pratapnagar and increase connectivity to the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world.

PM Modi while addressing the conference stated that these trains would help improve tribal area tourism and increase connectivity to the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, which was launched in October 2018 on the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – the iron man of India. One of the eight trains that runs from Ahmedabad to Kevadia, the Ahmedabad-Kevadia Jan Shatabdi Express, has special facilities for the tourists and has been fitted with the ” Vista-dome tourist coach ” which has wide viewing areas with rooftop glasses and special passenger seats.

The statement from Prime Minister’s office said, “These projects will speed up development works in the nearby tribal areas. Connections can be made to important religious and ancient pilgrimage centres situated on the banks of river Narmada. Domestic and international tourism will get a boost and it will prove to be important for the entire socio-economic development of the region. Along with this, it will also help in the development of new jobs and business opportunities.”

The Dabhoi-Chandod converted broad gauge railway line, Chandod-Kevadia new broad gauge rail line, recently electrified Pratapnagar-Kevadia section, and the new station buildings of Dabhoi, Chandod and Kevadia were also launched by Prime Minister Modi. The event was attended via video link by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his Uttar Pradesh companion, Yogi Adityanath.
