VANCOUVER (CU)_The Westernmost provinces of Canada have been reporting record-breaking temperatures across five-days as the so-called “heat dome” descended on the country’s west coast, along with the Pacific Northwest of neighbouring United States. The extreme heat conditions broke Canadian high-temperature records three times, killing hundreds of people across the region, prompting serious concerns regarding vulnerable groups, including older adults and those experiencing homelessness. In Lytton, a town in the province of British Columbia, the temperatures reached as high as 49.6°C (121.28F) on Tuesday (29 June).
