(CU)_In early March this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined American talk show host Oprah Winfrey in a tell-all TV interview, marking the first time the couple broke their silence since their decision to step back from royal duties in January 2020. The interview was filled with some major revelations and allegations, including a conversation about racism within the firm, a discussion about Meghan’s mental health struggles and the couple’s torrid relationship with the British press.

Therefore, it came as no surprise that the interview became a huge hit, watched by 12.4 million viewers in Britain and 17.1 million in the United States. Now it appears that the Emmy voters may well have been among this large viewership as the interview secured an Emmy nomination in in the Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special category. Other shows that were nominated for this category included David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction and the travelogue Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy hosted by American actor Stanley Tucci Jr.

If the interview does claim the award in September, it would be yet another milestone in what many believe to be Meghan’s hopes for Hollywood stardom. Following the bombshell interview in March, Harry also partnered with Oprah for The Me You Can’t See, an Apple TV+ series focusing on mental health. Meghan, on the other hand, recently authored a new children’s book titled The Bench.

In early last month, the couple welcomed their second child, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born on 4 June, in Santa Barbara, California.
