The Marriot hotels in Australia are making some changes and one of them is making Victoria Benevolenskaya the General Manager of the Four Points by Sheraton, Sydney Central Park whilst Mark Snell will lead Courtyard by Marriott Brisbane South Bank and Carolyn Smith has been appointed General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens whilst Karan Singh will assume the General Manager role at Element Melbourne Richmond.

Sean Hunt, area vice president for Australia and the Asia Pacific at Marriott, stated: “I am really proud of these new appointments. All four associates have been part of Marriott’s internal training and development program that allows us to develop the skills of our high-performing team members as they move through to senior management positions. Victoria, Mark, Carolyn and Karan are all first-time general managers. They will each play an integral role in supporting the ongoing success of these hotels and Marriott International. They bring extensive experience and a great passion for the industry. I congratulate them all on their well-deserved appointments.”

Hunt said the hospitality giant encourages talent retention and internal promotions, and places a big focus on diversity, inclusion, mentoring and wellbeing.

He further quoted that “I am also delighted with the growing representation of women in our senior management roles, Victoria and Carolyn are one of our youngest female general managers in the business.”

These changes were much needed after everything the Australia operation has been through with all the corona scares and lock downs.

Marriott has also announced that it will launch an updated version of its human trafficking awareness training – the next step in the company’s goal to train all on-property associates to recognize and respond to potential indicators of human trafficking at hotels by 2025.
