Central Bank of Nigeria launches major policy shift following MPC meeting

ABUJA (CU)_Following the July 2021 Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting in Abuja, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, said on Tuesday (27 July) that the apex bank is currently funneling$5.7 billion (about N2.346 trillion) annually through Bureau De Change (BDCs) operators. This, he noted, has become unsustainable since $20,000 is allocated for each of the 5,500 BDCs in the country, which amounts to $110 million set aside every week.
