Illinois, USA (CU)_ Abbott’s medical device division announced that the company has introduced its newest insertable cardiac monitor (ICM), Jot Dx, which is now available in the United States. Using a new feature that enables clinicians and hospitals to view aberrant heart rhythm data, Jot Dx gives them control over the management of flow of information. According to a press release, it can simplify which abnormal heart beats are recorded using a ‘key episodes’ function.

According to findings presented at Heart Rhythm 2021, Jot Dx reduces data load by 63 percent. According to Abbott Park, Illinois-based company, the technology has enabled remote identification and better diagnostic accuracy in individuals with cardiac arrhythmia. SyncUP, a tailored service that offers individual training and instruction to help patients connect to their ICM, underpins the platform.

The Jot Dx platform records patient heart rhythms around the clock, seven days a week, and links to myMerlin, which is a mobile app that sends data to physicians and patients in real time. According to Abbott, all wireless connections from the myMerlin app are encoded using the highest mobile security standards.

Heidi Hinrichs, Abbott divisional Vice President of global clinical & regulatory affairs for the company’s cardiac rhythm management business, released a statement saying, “Technology can be intimidating, particularly when your heart is relying on it”. She added, “With Jot Dx ICM, myMerlin, SyncUP and our other technologies, we want people to feel supported, knowledgeable and confident when using them, and ultimately, in control of their care. We understand healthcare is not one-size-fits-all and have learned from the people who use our products that a patient-centric approach can lead to a more manageable heart health experience.”
