WELLINGTON (CU)_Over the past few days, the Commerce Commission of New Zealand has been hosting a market-study conference into the $22 billion groceries’ industry , with the aim of designing a mandatory code setting out how supermarket chains should treat suppliers. So far, some of the major supermarkets in the country have agreed to support such a code so long as it does not limit their ability to offer home-brand products, or enable suppliers to negotiate collectively in the form of what resembles a union.
