London, United Kingdom (CU)_ The renowned Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate, has now graduated from the University of Oxford in London with a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics. She accomplished this nine years after being shot by the Taliban in her native Pakistan for advocating for girls’ education. The youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate took to Instagram to share the happy moment and proud pictures of her graduation and wrote, “Some Latin was said and apparently I have a degree.”
The graduation ceremony at Oxford University was originally scheduled for May 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremonies were then rescheduled for this year. The pictures showed Ms Yousafzai posing proudly with her cap and gown together with her proud parents and husband Asser Malik at the university. Ms Yousafzai’s tweet has thus far garnered over 8.32 lakh likes as well as several comments wishing her success. The Oxford university wished its valuable students a comment, “Congratulations”.
American actress Kristen Bell conveyed her wishes writing, “Congratulations to all your hard work and dedication – the world is so lucky to have you”. A motivating message came from an Instagram user saying, “Congratulations. You are an inspiration to many young girls. Goals, hard work, faith and dedication, the key to success”. Another user commented, “You look absolutely gorgeous Malala, you’re my childhood inspiration”. Another one wished, “Congratulations. And what a stunning backdrop Oxford is”.
Ms Yousafzai and Mr Malik, a Pakistan Cricket Board manager, tied the knot on November 9 in a private wedding ceremony in Birmingham. She then took to Twitter to inform the news and tweeted, “We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our family”.
Ms Yousafzai is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate who was honoured for her work in 2014, when she was just 17 years old. She is a native of Pakistan. On October 9, 2012, a Taliban terrorist shot her in the head for advocating for girls’ education in Pakistan. She was then airlifted to the United Kingdom for treatment, where she settled and resumed her studies.
