Cloves are one of the most used spices in our kitchen. Apart from its broad culinary use, clove is also an effective home treatment for coughs, colds, headaches, and other ailments. It is rich in anti-inflammatory, antiviral, carminative, and antiflatulent characteristics that aid in the prevention of colds and flu. Dr. Ashutosh Gautam from Baidyanath discussed the benefits of cloves. He said, “Clove (and clove oil) is one of the richest sources of antioxidants. It is used as an antiseptic and pain reliever especially for toothaches and stomach pain.”

This sweet spice includes nigericin, a compound that has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity, which reduces our cravings for sweets. Additionally, he noted that cloves can also be a remedy for toothache, bad breath, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, and other issues.
