Joe Biden nominates Indian-origin political activist as the US ambassador to the Netherlands

California, USA (CU)_ According to the White House, US President Joe Biden revealed his desire to appoint Shefali Razdan Duggal, an Indian-origin political activist, as US ambassador to the Netherlands. Duggal, the 50-year-old political activist, was raised in Cincinnati, Chicago, New York, and Boston after immigrating to the United States from Kashmir.

The White House, along with many other important administrative and diplomatic positions, announced the appointment of Duggal. According to the White House, Duggal is a long-time political activist, women’s rights champion, and human rights crusader. Previously, she served at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council as a presidential appointee and currently serves as a Western regional adviser.

Duggal is an active member of Human Rights Watch’s San Francisco committee, a member at the Leadership and Character Council at Wake Forest University, and a member on the Emily’s List national board of directors. She graduated from New York University with a master’s degree in political communication. She also attended the University of Miami, where she graduated with mass communication.

Duggal has been honored with many civilian awards, including the US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Western Regional Leadership Award, was identified as a Community Hero by the California State Assembly, and was also named one of California’s Most Powerful Women by the National Diversity Council. According to the White House, she worked as Biden’s women’s national co-chair and as the Democratic National Committee’s deputy national finance chair. Duggal was a member of Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, serving on both the Northern California Steering Committee for Obama’s campaign and the Hillary Committee for Women.
