PM Modi Attends Royal Dinner by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark

New Delhi, India (CU)_ Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a royal dinner given by Queen Margrethe II of the Kingdom of Denmark on Tuesday at Copenhagen’s Amalienborg Palace. The ceremonial dinner was the final item on PM Modi’s schedule for the second day of his European tour. The Prime Minister landed in Copenhagen in the morning and met with his Danish colleague Mette Frederiksen. The two leaders addressed bilateral topics such as boosting trade and environmental cooperation between the countries.

Additionally, the two presidents met in Copenhagen and had a delegation-level discussion to evaluate progress on the two nations’ Green Strategic Partnership. PM Modi and his colleague also had conversations on the Ukraine war, with PM Modi expressing India’s position in favor of an immediate cease of hostilities and a diplomatic resolution of the continuing crisis.

The two leaders then attended a joint press conference, during which several agreements between the two countries were officially signed, including a Declaration of Intent (DoI) on Migration and Mobility, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of skill development, vocational education, and entrepreneurship, and the establishment of a ministerial-level energy policy dialogue between the two nations.

The two countries exchanged a total of nine agreements. PM Modi also met the members of the Indian diaspora in Copenhagen in the evening, accompanied by the Danish Prime Minister. According to a MEA statement, the event drew over 1,000 members of the Indian community living in Denmark, including students, academics, professionals, and businesspeople.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen’s friendliness and admiration for Indians and stressed that both nations can collaborate on creative green growth solutions. He commended the Indian community’s beneficial involvement in Denmark. PM Modi is slated to attend the second India-Nordic summit on Wednesday before flying to Paris to meet newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron.
