Volcano Watch In Samoa

CARRIBBEAN (CU)_ Since late July, the Manua Islands of American Samoa in the South Pacific have experienced earthquakes. These earthquakes are probably related to the islands’ subsurface magmatic activity. To further understand the source and any potential hazard consequences, the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) is collaborating closely with federal partners, American Samoan officials, and local residents.
