A Look-back at the Summit Series

The Summit Series, or Super Series was an eight-game ice hockey series which was held between Canada and the Soviet Union way back in the day during the Cold War. The series was launched in the year 1972 and was the first competition between the Soviet national team and a Canadian team represented by professional players of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The Summit Series were all the rage back in the 70s and 80s, and iconic games were remembered and broadcasted up until the late 90s and early 2000s. Especially the iconic game-winning goal which brought victory to Canada after the teams entered a tie breaker round having three wins, three losses and one tie.
