Shangri-La Singapore
Despite being close to Singapore’s busiest shopping area, Orchard Road, Shangri-La feels “tucked away from it all” and like a tranquil oasis in the middle of the city. The property is a large compound with three primary structures (with more than 700 guest rooms). A variety of visual delights are possible in this area, such as the lobby work by the Japanese designer Hirotoshi Sawada, who made a “tree canopy” out of metallic leaves. The property’s grounds, on the other hand, resemble a botanical paradise thanks to the abundance of tropical plants, fruit trees, and flowers. However, the service was the aspect of the Shangri-La that received the greatest praise, with one reader calling it “excellent.”

Capella Singapore
Two 1880s Tanah Merah colonial bungalows that have been refurbished serve as the centrepiece of our Sentosa Island getaway. From there, the hotel sprawls out into gardens and grounds that are bordered by the sea. The Singapore resort was created by architects Foster + Partners with inspiration from Tanah Merah, which is translated as “red earth” in Malay, in order to blend in with the city’s historic buildings and stunning surroundings.
The 112 rooms, suites, and villas, each deliberately and tastefully designed by Jaya Ibrahim to mix tailored contemporary comforts with natural materials and hints of Asian history, are surrounded by 30 acres of serene and luscious planted gardens.
