Lightning Labs Launches New Software Taro Daemon, Here’s What It Means to Bitcoin Developers

(CU)_The infrastructure division of Lightning Network, Lightning Labs, has introduced a new program called the Taro daemon. But only the test version of the open-source program has been made public because it is still in the testing stage.

Developers may now create, send, or receive assets on the Bitcoin blockchain thanks to this new software. However, since this is merely a test version, developers will initially only utilize the Taro daemon to create tokens for the testnet.

As an alternative to the Bitcoin blockchain, there is the testnet. Additionally, it gives developers a testing environment where they may try out applications using testnet currencies rather than real Bitcoin. Projects have the opportunity to identify problems and potential dangers during this time and conduct in-depth tests to fix them. The projects often go live on the Bitcoin blockchain only after this (mainnet).

The ultimate goal, according to a statement from Lightning Labs, is to include Taro into the Lightning Network. Developers will be able to send assets across the Lightning Network by that point, albeit in large quantities and with little transaction fees once they can create assets on the mainnet.

However, a project is still in progress to ensure the success of the integration. As a first step, that entails integrating Taro’s Taproot channels into the organization’s Lighting implementation (LND).

Then, there are more plans to provide Taro daemon access to the “universe capabilities”. Lightning Labs claims that users and asset issuers will be able to establish proof of ownership and asset history using this technology. The company affirms that this development is now under progress and that Taro will shortly introduce universes.

Lightning Labs wants to make it possible for customers to hold both cryptocurrency and fiat amounts in a single wallet with Taro. The company is confident that this will significantly enhance the Lightning Network as a whole.
