North Korea fires missiles into South Korean territory!

(Commonwealth Union)_Both North Korea and South Korea were at war from 1950 to 1953, which ended in a truce, and not a peace treaty, leaving behind bitter unresolved political conflicts between both the nations. There is a military buffer zone established between nations in mutual agreement where North Korea has fired more than 100 rounds of artillery from their east coast, thus violating the agreement.

Earlier today (02), North Korea launched 17 missiles into the sea, some of which landed off the South Korean coast. While the missile landed away from South Korea’s territorial waters, it was exceeding the Northern Limit Line, which is an internal border.

This sort of thing has happened for the first time since the nations divided in 1945, and this is also the greatest number of missiles launched by North Korea in a day. The President of South Korea described the event as territorial encroachment and fired back missiles in response. Officials from Seoul stated they were suspicious that North Korea was preparing for a nuclear weapon test, one which hasn’t been conducted since 2017.

The tragic incident that killed 150 in the Halloween stampede led the President of South Korea to announce a week of mourning, despite this, major military drills were practised with warplanes tested for mock attacks 24 hours a day in line with South Korea’s military partnership with the United States. The missiles were launched hours after these drills, in an attempt to stop such excessive military provocation.

All of South Korea was abuzz with warplane noises and air raid warnings which rang through the citizens compelling them to seek immediate shelter in basements, until the missiles fell into high seas. There were no warnings received as the affected counties scrambled to protect themselves from this sudden attack.

Due to this air routes extending from South Korea to Japan will be temporarily suspended until the next day, thus maximising the consequences of such military provocation that disturbs the stability of surrounding nations.
