Pakistani singer Hadiqa Kiani collects $100,000 for flood victims

Islamabad (Commonwealth Union)_Recently, one third of Pakistan was submerged in water due to torrential rains that wrecked the infrastructure of rural Pakistan causing great loss. Many people from across the world came forward with their support and aid in order to assist the nation to overcome this great tragedy. One name that is particularly linked with the relief provisional aspect is Pakistani singer-turned actor Hadiqa Kiani, who initiated the movement Vaseelah-E-Raah as a specific means of gathering aid and conveying the help to those in need.

She took over herself the responsibility of rebuilding three villages – Rabbi, Chattar and Tamboo and since then has been working tirelessly under her movement Vaseelah-E-Raah to generate the finances and establish contractors to fulfil this important upliftment task.

Recently, the Pakistani singer took to Twitter to confirm that she had successfully raised a sum of US$100,000 which would be utilised to rebuild 100 homes for affected flood victims. She even mentioned that a further US$85,000 would be required to supply residents of affected regions with basic necessities.

In addition to this financial aid, she herself constantly visits the affected areas and ensures that all affected victims benefit from the aid and the signs of recovery and healing are fast tracked within these regions. Due to her tireless and extreme commitment to humanitarian work, she is a recipient for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz which is one of the highest national honours a civilian can receive in Pakistan. She is also celebrated as the first Pakistani woman who was appointed as a UN Goodwill Ambassador in the year 2010.

Her commitment and efforts have made it possible for so many flood-affected victims to be secure during times of disaster and peril. She started by providing essentials to the people and is now committed to uplifting their livelihoods as a whole.
