Seychelles’ most popular tourist attractions

(Commonwealth Union)_ Beautiful boulder-strewn beaches, virgin jungles, thriving coral reefs, and UNESCO-listed nature reserves are just a few of the archipelago’s 115 coral and granite islands, which are the peaks of a massive underwater plateau.

Anse Lazio, Praslin

Anse Lazio (Chevalier Bay) on Praslin Island’s north shore is one of the Seychelles’ most stunning beaches. To get to the beach, you must trek up a hill, but it is well worth the effort.

This lengthy stretch of silky golden sand combines with crystal-clear seas in dreamy colours of blue, surrounded by rounded granite boulders. Takamaka trees and coconut palms line the beach, offering shade for bathers, and hungry bathers can refuel at eateries on both ends of the beach.

Anse Lazio is best visited in the early morning or late afternoon, after most of the tour buses have left.

Anse Intendance, Mahé

This small and secluded stretch of sand on Mahé’s south coast is a famous surfing area because to its frequent huge swells and furious waves. While there is no reef to dive around at this lovely beach, there are plenty of other activities to keep you entertained.

While it is lovely and exciting, this is not the best beach for families. Swimming can be difficult due to the lack of a protective reef when trade winds blow from the southeast, especially from June to September. Sunbathers, beachcombers, and photographers will enjoy this gorgeous, palm-framed shoreline year-round. Insider tip: Keep a look out for step-turtles nesting along the powdery coastlines here.

Baie Lazare, Mahé

On Mahé, the charming settlement of Baie Lazare was named after the 18th-century French explorer Lazare Picault, who arrived here when the French government dispatched him to explore the islands.

The neo-Gothic Baie Lazare Church, dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi and offering a panoramic perspective of the area, is one of the area’s primary tourist attractions.

With their gorgeous azure ocean and brilliant white sand, the beaches at Anse Soleil and Petite Anse are among the best in the Seychelles. Petite Anse, in fact, tops the list of Seychelles’ greatest beaches thanks to its protected harbour and silver-tinged sand. This is a beautiful beach for families who want to swim and snorkel in a safe environment.
