(Commonwealth Union) – There has been some talks of Delta Air making some new routes and its exciting. The airline has made a hint that it could be taking over the Minneapolis to Dublin route. Now this might seem like just normal news but the twist is that it was a route that was previously operated by Aer Lingus.

The flight route itself was started in 2019 and was also first operated by the Irish airline Aer Lingus, but like most carriers, this route saw its end in 2020 thanks to the situation that the pandemic created where there was zero travel. But of course, things have changed now and one year in travel as come back almost to normal. With travel going back to normal carriers have come forward and begun to resume normal routes.

Delta has seen the opportunity here to take in the route that was previously done by Aer Lingus. The Boeing 757 that Aer Lingus was retired after they closed the route and the American airline has stated they are up for the challenge.

If Delta takes over the Aer Lingus route, then that means that there is a direct flight option and Aer Lingus will be out of the American market. The American market is a pretty big market and it would be a huge financial loss for Aer Lingus.

However, Aer Lingus has stated they are not worries about being locked out of the Minneapolis market as they have looked into getting the direct flight route to Cleaved as well as a few other states in the United States. But the thing is that Delta has a strong presence in these states that it is possible unless they get the price right that people will choose to fly Aer Lingus when there has always been a presence of Delta.
