The theme for this year is “Kidney Health for Everyone – Preparing for the Unexpected, Supporting the Vulnerable.” Quite often with strong links between kidney disease with other factors such as diabetes and heart disease, makes maintaining a healthy kidney a positive move for our overall health.

Kidney disease is a silent killer as it often shows no symptoms until it has reached an advanced stage. Early detection is critical to managing the disease and slowing its progression. Regular checkups, including blood and urine tests, can help identify kidney disease at an early stage. Lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and quitting smoking, can help prevent kidney disease.

The World Kidney Day campaign encourages individuals and organizations to raise awareness about kidney disease and how to avoid it. This is often conducted through a variety of campaigns, educational events, and community outreach programs. The campaigns focus on the significance of increased funding for kidney research and improved access to kidney care and treatment.
