AFRICA ( commonwealth Union ) _ Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the erratic son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, said on Thursday that if Moscow were threatened, his nation would send troops to protect it.
Museveni posted on twitter that call me a “Putinist,” if you will, but Uganda will send troops to protect Moscow if the Imperialists ever attack it. An ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, continued that the West is wasting its time with its pointless pro-Ukraine propaganda. Kainerugaba, well known for his frequently erratic Twitter rants on a variety of topics, declared earlier this month that he would be running for president in the 2026 elections.
In addition, he disclosed on Thursday that a television and radio station operating under the MK brand, led by a former special forces spokesperson, would launch in Russia. According to Uganda’s constitution, Kainerugaba is not permitted to publicly discuss foreign policy or sovereign states while he is an active military officer.
During UN votes on the conflict, including one last month commemorating the war’s first anniversary and calling for Moscow to remove its forces immediately and unconditionally, Uganda has abstained. Museveni has previously defended his nation’s links to the Russian government.
Russia has long had close ties with Africa thanks to its assistance in the continent’s independence campaigns against colonial rule. There has long been speculation that Kainerugaba, who is 78 years old and has governed Uganda since 1986, is being prepared to take over from his 78-year-old father.
However, some of his Twitter rants have interfered with Uganda’s foreign policy. Following an argument over a tweet that threatened to invade Kenya last year, Museveni tried to control his rebellious son by ordering him to avoid using Twitter for official matters.
