Why is Sunak targeting to grooming gangs?

Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – The evil acts of grooming gangs has been a serious issue continuously raised by activists and rights groups over the years. There was a broad feeling that authorities were doing little to address the issues and due to the fact that most of the victims being in their early teens and unaware of actions that can be taken and the issue and the sensitive nature of the crime, together with many families of the victims who felt that authorities were not taking the issue seriously often resulted the perpetrators going unpunished.

A statement was recently released from the Prime Ministers office in regards to new actions taken to handle grooming gangs with a Grooming Gangs Taskforce that will see specialist officers moved up to help the police forces with child sexual exploitation and grooming inquiries to ensure more criminals face justice.

The incidents that took place in the city of Rotherham that is located in the South Yorkshire County by grooming gangs exposed not only the horrific abuse of vulnerable young girls, but also the failures of the authorities to protect them. The scandal drew much attention to child protection services in the UK.

The new taskforce is to be led by the police with the backing from the National Crime Agency. They are set to offer essential support to forces all over the UK to identify the grooming gangs and bring them to justice.

“The safety of women and girls is paramount. For too long, political correctness has stopped us from weeding out vile criminals who prey on children and young women. We will stop at nothing to stamp out these dangerous gangs,” said PM Sunak.

Data analysts are set to collaborate with the taskforce with the application of the latest data and intelligence to find out the sort of criminals who conduct these offences, that will assist police forces bring justice to the offenders that otherwise may have been missed according to the statement.
