Science & Technology, Canada (Commonwealth Union) – Perovskite solar cells are a type of solar cell that use a material called perovskite as the light-harvesting layer. Perovskite is a mineral with a unique crystal structure that makes it an excellent material for solar cells. Perovskite solar cells have emerged as a promising technology in the field of photovoltaics due to their high efficiency, low cost, and ease of fabrication. However certain obstacle has many researchers from across the world focus on ways of resolving these minor issues.

Perovskite solar cells work by absorbing photons of light and converting them into electricity. The perovskite material is used as the absorber layer, and it is sandwiched between two electrodes – a transparent conductive layer and a metal electrode. When light enters the perovskite layer, it generates electrons and holes, which are then separated by the applied electric field and collected at the electrodes. The resulting current can be used to power electronic devices or stored in batteries.
