AFRICA ( Commonwealth Union) _ Dr. James Nkata and Ambassador Tania Perez have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Uganda Institute of Management and the “Raul Roa” Higher Institute of International Relations.

Mr. Nkata, the General Director of the Ugandan academic institution, expressed his admiration for the Cuban Revolution and its impact on Africa. He expressed gratitude for the bilateral cooperation with Cuba, highlighting the opportunities it presents to enhance diplomatic and international relations training at their center. Mr. Nkata also expressed satisfaction with the invitation to participate in the University 2024 event and emphasized its significance to him.

Ambassador Tania Perez, representing Cuba, emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum marks the beginning of a promising journey of bilateral cooperation between the Ugandan and Cuban educational institutions. She acknowledged that the collaboration with Cuba will not only facilitate the exchange of expertise and experience in academic training in international relations and diplomacy but also foster a better understanding of the current challenges faced by East Africa and the African continent as a whole.

On the other hand, the Cuban diplomat believes that the signing of the Memorandum is not an end goal in itself; rather, it marks the beginning of a promising journey towards bilateral cooperation between the educational institutions of Uganda and Cuba. She also expressed her appreciation for the fact that Cuba’s involvement will not only facilitate the exchange of expertise and experience in academic training for international relations and diplomacy but also contribute to learning and gaining a deeper understanding of the present challenges faced by East Africa and the African continent as a whole.

Furthermore, the Cuban Ambassador highlighted that the bilateral cooperation program is part of the celebrations for the upcoming 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Uganda, scheduled to be commemorated in 2024.
