Australia (Common Wealth) _ According to Drive Australia, Mazda has said that the new Mazda CX-5 SUV won’t be available until 2025. In case you missed it, the second-generation CX-5 that is currently on the market made its debut in 2017. And it will be eight years old when 2025 arrives. How quickly does time pass?

The third-generation Mazda CX-5 should, at the very least, keep its four-cylinder engines and be available with either front- or all-wheel drive. Although the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-60 SUVs are of comparable size and are only sold in certain regions, including Australia, Europe, and Japan, the CX-5 is not likely to share the CX-60’s base.

For your information, the CX-60 has both an all-wheel drive (AWD) and a rear-wheel drive (RWD) option. To keep the cost of the next CX-5 low, this is done.

It’s probable that a hybrid version of the Mazda CX-5 will be offered as a choice of power plant. Alastair Doak, the marketing director for Mazda Australia, was asked by Drive Australia if a hybrid version of the CX-5 would be available. He responded, “That would be telling, wouldn’t it? But ultimately, a new generation of cars will arrive, as I already stated. But it won’t happen then.

Toyota’s hybrid technology has historically been used by Mazda in their vehicles, most notably in the previous generation Mazda 3 hybrid, which was available only in Japan. Therefore, there are grounds to think that The CX-5’s next generation could feature a hybrid drivetrain from Toyota. This hasn’t been confirmed, yet.

Toyota has a 5% ownership holding in Mazda, which has allowed them to collaborate on the development of shared models and technologies like the hybrid system. In Huntsville, Alabama, Mazda and Toyota jointly operate a factory that makes vehicles including the Mazda CX-50 and the Toyota Corolla Cross for the North American market.
