Fitzgerald Hinds National Security minister informed he is reassured to know along with his ministry attending to other elements of security, the area of cybersecurity is been attended by those who posses’ expertise in the particular field.

At the launch of the Caribbean Cybersecurity Institute (CCI), at the university of TT (UTT) recently, where Hinds had discussed the importance of such an establishment and its relevance in the furthering of Cybersecurity.

As technology advances with businesses merging operations with technology, cyber threats become more vital and prominent. The objective of the institute is to furnish professionals with the requires managerial, technical and regulatory skills and knowledge needed to deal and eradicate these threats.

Hinds explained that every ministry was instructed to recognize a certain project in the area of advancements and digital transformation. Drawing from past experience, were the office of the Attorney General and the legal Affairs Minister experiences a cyber-attack that left some of the vital services unreachable.

Professor Clement Imbert UTT chairman explained the launch of the institution will integrate and encourage cybersecurity by combining innovation, high – quality, interdisciplinary programs and research and development, that will provide training, education and consultation for the public and private sectors; enhancing private sector best practices and data security; sustaining and creating the jobs for cybersecurity; enhancing the digital transformation process protection and for safeguarding digital assets; and predicting international and digital cooperation for cyberspace development.

Currently UTT offers a master’s degree in the field of cybersecurity. He informs that in the next five years, the CCI will enhance the quality and the number of components that will help in the attainment of the intended goals. Carina Cockburn the head of the inter-American development bank on TT, Stuart Franco president of Amcham and Prakash Persad president of UTT are among that attended the launch
